There are various diseases that can cause itchy fingers, so it is important to first identify the cause and follow medical advice on medication, rather than self-medicating. Contact dermatitis should be treated by identifying and removing the allergen, taking oral desensitising and antipruritic medication, and applying topical creams depending on the extent of the lesions. Eczema can be treated with topical glucocorticoids and, if this is not effective, immunosuppressive drugs. Tinea capitis is treated with topical antifungal medication and, in the case of bacterial infections, with a combination of antibiotics. Scabies infections can be treated with topical insecticidal anti-itch medication.
