Complications of organophosphorus pesticide poisoning are divided into acute and chronic complications. In the acute stage, patients will develop severe pulmonary edema, bronchospasm, cardiac arrhythmia, and also generalized muscle tonic spasms, respiratory failure, heart failure, and acute liver and kidney insufficiency. For the chronic complications of organophosphorus poisoning, including central system dysfunction, such as convulsions, coma, and in severe cases, delayed neurological disorders, patients will develop lower limb paralysis, limb muscle atrophy, vision loss, chronic cardiac arrhythmias, and chronic liver and kidney insufficiency, as well as gastrointestinal bleeding and peptic ulcers, are all complications of organophosphorus pesticide poisoning.
