How long does it take to get anesthesia for a tooth extraction

The recovery time after anesthesia for tooth extraction is mainly related to the type of anesthesia and the amount of anesthesia, and cannot be generalized. If it is a simple tooth extraction, such as a milk tooth extraction, surface anesthesia is used and only bupivacaine, etc. is applied to the mucosal surface, and the anesthesia will usually fade completely after 30-40 minutes. In case of local infiltration anesthesia, anesthesia is injected into the gingival or periodontal membrane on the labial and lingual side, and the anesthesia usually wears off after 1-2 hours. If nerve block anesthesia is used, the anesthetic effect will wear off after about 3-4 hours. If epinephrine is used in conjunction with the anesthetic, the recovery time will be relatively longer, and the exact time varies from person to person. After tooth extraction, patients should be careful not to rinse their mouth for 24 hours to avoid bleeding from the trauma of the extraction, not to eat on the extraction side for 3 days, and to avoid hard, hot and spicy food for 1 week.
