How many teeth can be extracted at a time

Usually 1-5 teeth can be extracted at a time, the exact number of teeth to be extracted is related to the distribution of the patient’s teeth, his/her physical condition, and the difficulty and complexity of the extraction. Some hospitals limit the number of teeth that can be extracted in an outpatient clinic to 2, beyond which the patient needs to be hospitalized for extraction. If the patient is in good physical condition and the teeth to be extracted are located in the same area, such as the lower jaw, the front teeth and the back teeth are on the same side, the lower alveolar nerve, lingual nerve and buccal nerve can be anesthetized at the same time, and multiple teeth can be extracted in the same area of the lower jaw. If the teeth to be removed are distributed in various areas of the mouth, it is recommended to remove the teeth on the same side at one time, as the teeth will cause corresponding gaps after removal and will not be able to withstand the chewing force, so it is necessary to retain the other side for chewing food. However, if the patient is older and suffers from systemic diseases, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, etc., he/she needs to be careful when extracting the teeth and should not remove too many at a time in order to avoid adverse effects. If the extraction is difficult and complicated, try to remove only 1 tooth, because the time required for extraction in such cases is longer, which will lead to increased pain for the patient, and if too many teeth are removed at one time, it may aggravate the patient’s pain. Therefore, prior to extraction, oral imaging is required, as well as a clear history of disease, and the exact number of teeth to be extracted should be determined by the doctor as appropriate.
