The advent of minimally invasive surgical atrial fibrillation radiofrequency ablation has provided a highly effective treatment for patients with isolated atrial fibrillation. Minimally invasive surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation, which started with thoracoscopic assistance and small incisions in the chest wall, is now able to be treated via total thoracoscopy, with further reduction of trauma and increased ablation trajectory, which has improved the efficacy not only for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation but also for persistent and permanent atrial fibrillation. Dr. Mark Rammell will be invited to present a lecture at the Cardiac Surgery Department 9 of Beijing Anzhen Hospital. Dr. Mark La Meir will come to our hospital on September 19, 2010 to perform a surgical exchange and demonstration of minimally invasive thoracoscopic atrial fibrillation radiofrequency ablation. Dr. La Meir is from the Free University of Brussels, AZM (University Hospital Maastricht), Belgium. He has been engaged in clinical research and practice of minimally invasive surgical atrial fibrillation treatment for many years and has a deep knowledge in the field of atrial fibrillation surgical treatment.
