What does high gastrin mean?

High gastrin may be related to gastrinoma, autoimmune gastritis, chronic renal insufficiency and other diseases.
1. Gastrinoma: Gastrinoma belongs to neuroendocrine tumors, which can secrete gastrin, leading to elevated gastrin.
2. Autoimmune gastritis: if the patient is autoimmune gastritis, the body will generate antibodies against mural cells, which can secrete hydrogen ions. Due to the reduction of hydrogen ions in the body, it will cause the G cells to secrete a large amount of gastrin in a feedback manner, leading to the elevation of gastrin.
3. Chronic renal insufficiency: the kidneys can inactivate gastrin, if the patient has chronic renal insufficiency, it is possible to weaken this inactivation, which will lead to gastrin elevation.
If the patient’s gastrin test results are elevated, it is recommended to go to the regular hospital in a timely manner, after clarifying the cause of the disease, under the guidance of the doctor for targeted treatment or therapy.
