Can a child with cerebral palsy hold his head up

Most children with cerebral palsy can hold their heads up, while a few with severe conditions cannot. This depends on the location of the brain injury. For example, a child with hypotonic cerebral palsy may not be able to lift his or her head. However, in other types of cerebral palsy, it is possible to lift the head.
Children with cerebral palsy do not have all the same symptoms, depending on the extent and location of the brain damage.
A few children with severe cerebral palsy have severe hypotonia, which prevents them from lifting their head, and is accompanied by speech delays, mental retardation, and abnormal postures. However, some children with less severe cerebral palsy may show atypical movements, or ataxia. Most of these babies can hold their heads up.
If your baby is suspected of having cerebral palsy, you need to go to the hospital in time, complete the relevant examinations such as cranial CT and electroencephalogram, so as to clarify the condition in time, and give rehabilitation and other symptomatic treatments, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
