There are many bone structures in the face, and the three main ones that make up the cheeks are the cheekbones, the maxilla, and the mandible from the top down. The zygomatic bones are on either side of the frontal cheeks, below the outer orbits, and the two more prominent bony structures are the zygomatic bones. The zygomatic bones extend all the way to the opening of the external ear canal, forming an arch structure, also called the zygomatic arch. Below the zygomatic bone is connected the maxilla, which is the upper side wall of the mouth and is connected to the upper row of teeth. Between the zygomatic bone and the upper row of teeth is the location of the maxilla, which also extends all the way to the side of the cheek. The bone structure connected to the maxilla by a joint is the mandible, which is the largest bone structure in the face. When you put both hands in front of your ears, open your mouth and you will touch the movement of the joints of the mandible, which is also the lower side wall of the entire mouth and connects the lower row of teeth.
