When women experience breast pain when they touch their breasts in the early stages of pregnancy, this is often considered a normal physiological manifestation of pregnancy. This is because after pregnancy, the ovaries continue to produce estrogen and progesterone, resulting in high levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body, which stimulate the development of the mammary glands and ducts, resulting in significant breast pain and a growth of the breasts. The nipples and areolas may become darker in color and have scattered nodular projections, also known as Montgomery’s nodules, which are unique to pregnant women. The breast pain lasts until about 7 months of pregnancy and does not require any treatment.
