Renal artery stenosis may be caused by atherosclerosis, fibromuscular dysplasia, aortitis and other factors. 1. Atherosclerosis: Atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis occurs in middle-aged and old-aged people, combined with diabetes mellitus, lipid metabolism disorders and other cardiovascular risk factors or other atherosclerotic diseases (coronary heart disease, cerebral atherosclerosis, atherosclerosis of the lower limbs and so on) is common. 2. Fibromuscular dysplasia: it occurs in 30 to 50 years old people, smokers are more common, patients with fibromuscular dysplasia occurring vascular occlusion is rare, renal vascular hypertension is the main adverse consequences. 3. Aortitis: renal artery stenosis caused by polyarteritis is common in young women. In the active phase of the lesion, there may be non-specific symptoms such as fatigue, fever, loss of appetite, and emaciation. It may be accompanied by arthritis, erythema nodosum and Raynaud’s syndrome. Laboratory tests may show accelerated blood sedimentation, positive C-reactive protein, and increased white blood cell count. Patients with renal artery stenosis need to go to the hospital as soon as possible and be treated under the guidance of specialized physicians to avoid serious complications.
