Ascites can arise for many reasons, including complications of disease, infectious diseases, rupture of internal blood vessels, etc. The fluid in the patient’s abdomen is often leaky, and the patient has severe liver disease that leads to hypoproteinemia and leakage of fluid from the blood vessels into the abdominal cavity. It can also be caused by bleeding in the abdominal cavity, such as having trauma that leads to splenic rupture, etc., causing ascites. It can also be caused by tumor invasion of blood vessels, which leads to blockage of blood vessels and causes stasis of blood in the intestines, etc., causing ascites. A common infectious disease causing ascites is tuberculous peritonitis, which can lead to increased peritoneal permeability and leakage of fluid into the peritoneal cavity.
