How is acne staged? What are the differences in the presentation of acne at different stages?

  Acne is currently classified into four grades, mainly according to the Pillsbury classification.  Grade I, which mainly presents with more blackheads, disseminated or multiple; inflammatory rash, disseminated.  Grade II, Class I plus superficial pustules with an increased number of inflammatory rashes, limited to the face.  Grade III, II plus superficial inflammatory rash, occurring on the face, neck and chest and back.  Grade IV, III plus cysts, prone to scarring, occurring on the upper body.
