Causes of postauricular tendon pain include otitis externa, otitis media and postauricular nerve pain.
1. Otitis externa: mostly occurs in areas with high temperature and humidity, and is usually characterized by ear pain, itchy ears and increased secretion. It can also invade the neighboring tissues and cause pain in the area.
2. Otitis media: usually associated with bacterial and fungal infections and abnormal function of the Eustachian tube, patients will have red, swollen, hot and painful ears, and are prone to pus flow, resulting in hearing loss. When acute otitis media occurs, the pain of inflammation can involve the lymph nodes behind the ear, producing pain in the area behind the ear.
3. Nerve pain behind the ear: inflammation in the distribution area of the nerve behind the ear or direct invasion of the nerve by inflammation can lead to radiological irritation reaction, which in turn causes pain behind the ear.
If you have pain behind the ear, it is recommended to consult a doctor for a clear diagnosis and standardized treatment under the doctor’s professional guidance.
