Is lower abdominal distension an inflammatory condition?

Not all lower abdominal distention and pain is due to inflammation.
Some lower abdominal distension may be caused by inflammation in the abdominal cavity or pelvis, such as ulcerative colitis, appendicitis, colonic diverticulosis and diverticulitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, cystitis, etc., which may cause patients to feel distension in the lower abdomen; however, non-inflammatory causes such as neoplastic disease, visceral injury after trauma, extra-abdominal hernia, pregnancy, etc., may also cause lower abdominal distension.
If the distension lasts for a long time or the pain is severe, the cause can be clarified by a hospital visit, and patients are not advised to take antibiotic drugs directly.
