Abstract Objective To investigate the feasibility of tension-free inguinal hernia repair under regional nerve block anesthesia. Methods From January 2010 to December 2011, 53 patients with inguinal hernia were repaired with good healing double patch unilateral inguinal hernia using regional block anesthesia in the Department of Surgery of Beijing Hospital of Integrative Medicine. The patients in this group did not have any auxiliary anesthesia during surgery, and the effect of regional anesthesia was good; there was no obvious pain in the surgical area and no obvious pulling discomfort when the spermatic cord was free during the operation; the operation time was 50 min on average, and the hospital stay was 3-5 d. Conclusion Regional block anesthesia is easy to operate, has a definite effect, and can be used as the anesthesia of choice for inguinal hernia repair.
