I have been a mammologist for a long time and I have seen too many breast cancer patients and their (their) loved ones. Everyone reacts differently to this outcome, and sometimes these reactions are helpful and sometimes they are harmful! I would like to analyze from my point of view as a specialist: how do I as a patient and as a person react to this situation? 1. Accept the results: Any imaging results commonly used in clinical practice can only be used as a basis for the doctor to determine whether the patient needs to undergo surgery or puncture biopsy, but not as a basis for diagnosis. The precise diagnosis should be pathological diagnosis. Once the pathological diagnosis confirms the diagnosis of breast cancer, it cannot be questioned. Of course, there are rare cases in medicine, such as difficulties in pathological diagnosis or even the need for further immunohistochemistry, but in such cases, the patient and family do not need to worry about it, and the hospital will definitely try to figure out the diagnosis, because the hospital is responsible for the diagnosis, especially for malignant tumors. If there is no full confidence, any pathologist will not make this diagnosis easily! Therefore, when your treating doctor tells the patient or family about the diagnosis, I hope the person concerned must accept the facts in front of him/her as soon as possible. In most cases, an experienced mammographer will be able to make a diagnosis in his mind with his clinical experience before surgery! So before the surgery will more or less penetrate some information to himself or his family! 2.What should the patient do? Breast cancer patients range from teenagers to 80s and 90s, but they are mostly in their 40s and 50s. It is unfortunate to have this disease at any age, and it is difficult for anyone (including family members and even friends) to accept this fact in a short time. The reaction of the patient and the people around him is first of all shock, as the mind is blank, can not believe the facts in front of him, will repeatedly ask the doctor is this true? Can this be a mistake? After calming down a little, they ask the doctor how serious my disease is. How do I need to be treated? Will I die? What about my children? Will my husband still love me? What about this family? My loved ones, my career, my friends. The next step will involve some specific questions, how serious is this disease of mine? How do I treat it? What about my future? 3, the mindset of the family: when I know the pathology results, I will first explain the condition to the family, as the family is often the same as the patient’s initial reaction, but basically after persuasion can calm down to listen to us explain the condition, treatment options. We will also discuss with the family about how to communicate with the patient about the disease. I never advocate hiding the disease from the patient, but there are exceptions, such as when the patient is old, inconvenient or unable to communicate well with us. Because of the long treatment cycle of breast cancer, patients sometimes have to undergo mastectomy, plus chemotherapy can cause hair loss and so on. In the end, there is no way to hide it from the patient. Besides, the patient must actively cooperate and face it optimistically in order to achieve the most ideal result during our treatment. So here I also want to thank my patients and her (his) family for their trust in me and good cooperation with us in the treatment process. 4.How to make a choice? How to choose a hospital: Breast cancer treatment is the best and most standardized among all cancers, and it has the longest survival time compared with other common malignant tumors such as lung cancer, stomach cancer, intestinal cancer, liver cancer, etc. Many early stage breast cancers can be completely cured with standardized treatment! This is the most encouraging and fulfilling thing for us, and it should also make patients and their families feel relieved. In the treatment of cancer, there are many clinical research findings and treatments that started from breast cancer! The treatment norms and cutting-edge advances of breast cancer are also updated relatively quickly. Therefore, when choosing a hospital, please check whether the breast cancer treatment in this hospital has a special breast department or is mixed with other surgical departments. I personally think it would be better if there is a separate breast specialty with specialized doctors and nurses engaged in this specialty. How to choose a doctor: These words here may offend many people, but it does not matter, as long as I can help everyone I am willing to say my thoughts. The first thing to look at is the character of the doctor! A person of bad character should not actually be a doctor, due to the current medical system about a person’s quality, morality, sense of responsibility, etc. I think the indispensable qualities to be a doctor is in a state of monitoring vacuum! This is not a matter that can be solved in the current health administration, we as an ordinary medical workers are unable to do anything about it, because the behavior of individual medical workers of bad character affects our image is very helpless thing, but we can choose to do well on their own. I believe that it is not difficult to find out whether a person’s character is good or not through contact. In fact, the doctor must help the patient to choose the best treatment plan according to the patient’s specific situation, in fact, he is still “guiding” the patient to choose! This may sound surprising to many amateurs, or even illegal from a lawyer’s point of view, but that’s the truth. . So the ethical requirements for people inside the medical profession should be of the highest standard! Second: a person’s reputation is very important, reputation must be given by others rather than their own want, of course, does not exclude some very will be fame fishing people engaged in a lot of halo (false) will blind people’s eyes, but as long as through contact it is not difficult to find some of the real thing. Patients (families) must remember: the best (or the most fashionable) is not necessarily the most suitable for you! Thirdly, we should also look at the experience of the doctor. A mammographer should first be a qualified surgeon, who has to undergo a long time training in basic surgical techniques. There are many different treatment methods for breast cancer, which should be decided by an experienced specialist according to the patient’s specific situation, and each patient’s situation is different. Patients and their family members must follow the doctor’s advice on this point and should not ask around about various treatment methods, nor should they listen to hearsay. Don’t read too much information about this yourself, otherwise it will affect your state of mind and even interfere with treatment! All you have to do is to be confident and actively cooperate with the doctor, who will introduce you to the detailed treatment plan and discuss with you to decide on the best plan. You should look at it this way: the research data shows that it takes more than one year for a tumor to grow to the size of one centimeter, and it is better for you to discover it now than later, and the effect of treatment now is different from when the tumor grows twice as big! You should be glad that we have found it out! Be positive and believe that the doctors will find a way to cure my disease. In fact, we have cured so many patients that many of them have established a relationship between us that is more than a normal friend, more like family? Relatives? 7, good wishes and gratitude We have been doctors for many years to experience many life and death scenes, sickness is a bad thing, but if because of sickness can make you temporarily stop your busy pace, pay attention to the happy life you have, such as your loved ones, children, the elderly, friends and so on these people you love and love you, with a grateful heart to treat them, believe that your quality of life may be because of sickness the relationship will become even better!
