The conjunctival sac of a normal person has 10 microliters of normal tear fluid and can hold up to 20 microliters more, with most of the excess fluid spilling out of the eye before it mixes with the tears. Therefore, giving more than two drops of eye drops at a time does not increase the amount of eye drops in the conjunctival sac of a normal person. 1.The operator washes his hands and assists the patient to take a sitting or supine position. 2.Check the name of the eye drops carefully, as well as check whether there is an expiration date. 3.Patients in a sitting position are asked to tilt their head back slightly. 4.The operator holds a sterile eye paper or cotton ball in the left hand and gently separates the lower eyelid of the affected eye. 5.The patient is asked to look upward to expose the subconjunctival dome (lower eye socket). 6. Hold the eye medicine bottle in the right hand, about 2-3 cm away from the eye, without touching the eyelashes and eyelids, and put 1-2 drops of the medicine into the conjunctival sac of the lower dome of the affected eye. 7. Ask the patient to close the eye for 1-2 minutes, while asking the patient to turn the eye to make full contact with the eye. Do not rub the eye, wipe the spilled medicine with a clean cotton ball and assist the patient to resume a comfortable position. 1. Read the drug instructions carefully before dropping the medication to understand the contraindications of the eye medication to prevent complications. 2. Check the name, dose, concentration and expiration date of the drug before dropping. 3.You should wash your hands before ordering eye drops. 4.If the eye drops are suspensions, shake well. 5.Wipe away intraocular secretions with dry cotton swabs or paper towels to avoid diluting the solution and reducing its efficacy. 6. When ordering eye drops, the left hand should gently pull open the eyelid and the right hand should take the drops slowly into the dome. 7.After dispensing the eye, lift the upper eyelid and gently close the eye and rotate it with the eye closed so that the solution is evenly distributed throughout the eye. 8.After dotting the eye drops, compress the lower part of the inner corner of the eye (tear sac) for 1-3 minutes to avoid the flow of the medication to the nasal cavity, which may lead to adverse drug reactions. Precautions 1. Hands must be washed before eye drops to prevent cross infection. 2.Follow the doctor’s instructions to arrange the order of drops according to the needs of the disease and treatment principles, and check whether there are any contraindications to the combined use of drugs in the doctor’s instructions. 3, check the drug, including drug name, concentration, usage, dosage, expiration date, the nature of the drug (pupil-dilating drugs, pupil-shrinking drugs, anti-inflammatory eye drugs), the drug has no discoloration, precipitation, flocculent substances. 4, drugs with highly toxic drugs, to prevent drug absorption through the nasal mucosa caused by toxic reflections, more attention should be paid to compression of the tear sac. Observe the reflection of the drug. At the same time, the head should be tilted to the side of the drug, so as to avoid the inflow of drugs into the other eye, causing adverse reactions. 5, such as the simultaneous use of several eye drops, the first drop of weakly irritating drugs, and then drops of strongly irritating drugs. First take anti-inflammatory eye drops, then take diluting eye drops. When eye drops and eye ointment are used at the same time, the drops should be applied first and then the ointment should be applied, and when multiple eye drops are used at the same time, they should be used alternately and at least 10 minutes apart. 6, when dropping suspension should be shaken well before use, so as not to affect the efficacy of the drug. 7, when dropping medicine bottle neck and eyelids to maintain a certain distance, generally 2 ~ 3M, to avoid contamination of the eye medicine bottle mouth should not be eye drops directly on the cornea, so as not to stimulate the eye transient reaction (blink), so that the drug flow to the outside of the corner of the eye. The method of applying eye ointment Eye ointment is retained in the conjunctival sac for a longer period of time, so that the drug can be fully absorbed and can reduce the abrasion of the eyelids on the cornea and conjunctiva and prevent the occurrence of lid adhesions, and is usually used before bedtime. 1. Take a sitting or supine position 2. Remove a sterile glass rod (or boiling water for natural cooling) 1, check for breakage → then dip one end of it into a small amount of eye ointment, (match head size) to the clean end of the glass rod, with the patient’s head slightly tilted back and eyes looking upward → gently pull the lower lid to expose the lower conjunctival sac and apply eye ointment to the lower dome. 3. Close the upper and lower lids, gently lift the upper lid with one hand to cover the glass rod, rotate the rod with the other hand and gently withdraw it from the temporal side. 4. Wipe the ointment off the glass rod, place it in a clean, fixed position for safekeeping, and wash your hands. One hand gently pulls the lower lid of the affected eye downward to expose the conjunctiva of the inferior fornix, the other hand squeezes out a small amount of ointment and places it in the fornix, gently lifting the upper lid and pressing down so that the ointment is placed in the conjunctival sac. The cotton ball can then be gently massaged over the closed eyelid several times so that the ointment can be evenly distributed over the corneal surface and all parts of the conjunctiva. Precautions 1. Check carefully that the rounded end of the glass rod is smooth and intact and that there is no breakage before operation to avoid injury to the conjunctiva and cornea as well as other ocular tissues. 2.When applying ophthalmic ointment, be careful not to roll the eyelashes into the conjunctival sac with the glass rod to avoid eye discomfort and irritation. 3.When applying ointment to both eyes, use the glass rod separately to avoid cross infection. 4. If you use eye ointment in a tube, the mouth of the tube should not touch the eyelashes to avoid contamination; squeeze out a little before use and discard it, then squeeze out the eye ointment and apply it to the conjunctival sac. 5, each time the eye ointment applied only the size of a green bean grain can be, should not be too much, so as not to sticky discomfort, affecting vision. 6, hose eye ointment before use, you can hold in the palm of your hand for a few minutes, so that the eye ointment warmed and softened, it is easier to squeeze out. 7.After ordering eye ointment, it may temporarily cause blurred vision. Please avoid activities that require clear vision, such as driving a vehicle, or using tools and machines that may cause injury.
