How to cure a child’s cross-eye

There is a difference between true and false “crossed eyes”, which is clinically known as “internal strabismus”. First of all, it is important to distinguish between “true and false internal obliquity”. False internal obliquity is not an internal strabismus, but is caused by the small spacing between the eyes, the short nasal bridge, the close proximity of the inner canthus (inner corner of the eyes) and the canthus. “It is not necessary to treat this condition. True entropion is a condition in which one eye looks at the target and the other eye looks to the side of the nose and cannot look at the same target. The general process of correcting true internal strabismus is mainly as follows: (1) First of all, dilated eye examinations are needed to check whether the patient is combined with hyperopia, and if combined with hyperopia some patients will correct themselves completely when wearing glasses. (2) If the strabismus is reduced with glasses, but the strabismus is still present, the remaining part of the strabismus will need to be treated surgically. (3) If the strabismus remains unchanged with glasses, surgical correction is required. In conclusion, internal strabismus in early childhood needs to be treated in a timely manner, otherwise the eye with the internal strabismus will be abandoned after long-term use of the orthogonal eye, which will affect the development of the eye on the internal strabismus side, and even amblyopia will occur. If left untreated, it is also difficult to restore vision in the future.
