Hepatic cystic hypodense shadow is a CT term. Hepatic cystic hypodense shadow may be related to hepatic cyst, hepatic hemangioma, hepatic cystadenoma, hepatic cysticercosis and so on. 1.Liver cyst: it is a relatively common benign disease of the liver.CT examination shows obvious cystic cavity in the liver, and there is no substantial occupation in the cystic cavity, and there may be some cystic fluid, so CT examination shows cystic hypodense shadow. Simple hepatic cysts have uniform cystic fluid and thin and smooth cystic wall. 2. Hepatic hemangioma: It is the most common benign hepatic tumor originated from mesenchymal cells. Small hemangiomas usually have no clinical symptoms and are found by chance. CT is helpful for the diagnosis of hepatic hemangioma, which shows clear cystic low-density shadow on plain scan and high-density shadow with gradual enhancement from the edge to the center of the lesion on enhancement. 3. Hepatic cystadenoma: it is a rare primary cystic malignant tumor of liver, which can be seen as cystic low-density shadow with clear margins on CT examination, and it is mostly solitary and multicompartmental, with varying sizes of cystic cavity and uneven thickness of cystic wall. The inner wall of the cystic cavity may have different sizes of papillae protruding. 4. Hepatic cysticercosis: it is a common parasitic disease in pastoral areas, also known as hepatic echinococcosis.CT examination can see more than one or a single round or ovoid cystic low density foci, and the cyst wall has bead-like larval nodules and is often accompanied by calcification. Hepatic cystic hypodense shadow can not accurately determine the disease, but also need to be combined with the characteristics of the medical history, other test results to make an accurate judgment, it is recommended to clarify the disease under the guidance of a doctor.
