How long is the risk period for a cerebral contusion?

The risk period of cerebral contusion injury is usually about one week. For cerebral contusion injury, it is mainly caused by traumatic brain injury that results in organic damage to brain tissues, such as necrosis or hemorrhage, which is called cerebral contusion injury, and its clinical symptoms are similar to those of concussions, but heavier than those of concussions. Brain tissue damage can result in neurological deficits, such as hemiparesis, aphasia, or meningeal irritation. If the patient’s condition is severe, there may be a decrease in blood pressure, slowed respiration, and loss of pupil light reflex. Swelling of brain tissue usually occurs after cerebral contusion, with a peak of 3-5 days, and in severe cases, brain herniation can form. In this case, if necessary, the patient can be given debridement decompression surgery, and the swelling of the brain tissue can be reduced after one week.
