Can you drink coffee with a kidney cyst?

Kidney cysts mostly originate from the renal tubules, to which the cysts are connected, and may be caused by obstruction of the renal units due to some reasons. Coffee usually does not affect the condition of renal cysts, so you can drink coffee in moderation.
Kidney cysts can be categorized into congenital kidney cysts and acquired kidney cysts. Congenital renal cyst is a genetic disease characterized by multiple renal cysts. Renal function can be impaired during the progressive stage of the disease, but as long as coffee is consumed in moderation during the stabilization period, it will not have any effect on renal cysts.
In clinic, acquired renal cysts are the most common type, also known as simple renal cysts. The diameter of simple renal cyst is less than 2cm and patients are usually asymptomatic. Drinking coffee will not cause acquired renal cysts to further increase in size or worsen local pain symptoms and other effects.
Therefore, moderate coffee drinking in daily diet generally does not have much effect on renal cysts. If there is discomfort in the kidney area, it is recommended to seek medical treatment in time.
