1. Wash your hands before ordering eye medication. 2. Check the name and concentration of the medicine carefully to avoid using it incorrectly. 3. After opening the bottle, do not touch other objects, including eyelids and eyelashes. Cover tightly after use to avoid contamination of the drug. 4. When using two or more eye drops at the same time, take 5-10 minutes between drops of one type and another type. If you need to use eye drops and eye ointment at the same time, you should use eye drops first and then eye ointment. Use the less irritating eye drops first, then the more irritating ones. 5. The number of medications should follow the doctor’s prescription or instructions, do not use less or stop using at will. However, infants and the elderly need only 1-2 drops of medication each time because they have little tolerance. Be patient and insist on the medication. After using the medicine, you should go to the hospital for a review and let the doctor decide whether to stop or change the medicine. 6. Some eye medications (such as pupil dilators or pupil shrinkers) may cause changes in vision after use, which is normal. 7. Eye medications should be kept in a cool, shaded place, not in a place with high temperature or direct sunlight, to avoid failure. Once opened, eye drops and ointments should be used up within a certain period of time to avoid reduced efficacy or failure. Eye drops that are abnormally cloudy or discolored should not be used again. 8. During the use of drugs, if there is an allergic reaction or other abnormalities, you should immediately stop the drug, and promptly go to the hospital. The correct posture for ordering eye drops: When ordering eye drops, sit or lie semi-supine on the bed, tilt your head back slightly, look in the direction of the head, and gently lift the lower eyelid so that a pocket is formed between the eyeball and the lower eyelid (called the lower dome). The eye medicine bottle is placed vertically downward, 2 to 3 cm from the eye, and the drops are placed into the “pouch” (not directly on the cornea), 1 to 2 drops at a time. Then gently close the eyes for 2 to 3 minutes while compressing the lacrimal sac (the corner of the eye near the bridge of the nose) so that the medicine is fully diffused in the conjunctival sac.
