The prevention of schistosomiasis is divided into three main aspects, controlling the source of infection, cutting off the means of transmission, and protecting susceptible people. Specific measures are as follows. 1. Control the source of infection: people living in the infected areas should actively cooperate with the local schistosomiasis control institutions to organize and carry out the work of snail checking, snail extermination, disease checking and treatment, as well as disease checking and treatment of domestic animals. 2. Cut off the transmission pathway: (1) Do not swim, play in the water, play grass, fishing, shrimp, laundry, washing dishes and other activities in contact with infected water in lakes, ponds and canals where there are snails. (2) Change water and toilets to prevent fecal contamination of water sources, ensure the safety of drinking water, and change production and living habits that are not conducive to health. 3. Protect the susceptible people: when contacting infected water due to production, life and flood control, take measures such as applying protective ointment and wearing protective gear to prevent schistosomiasis infection.
