There are two ways to determine if a child is infected with H. pylori, one is the clinical manifestations, and the other is the testing of H. pylori, such as the carbon 13 breath test.
1. Clinical manifestations: If a child is infected with H. pylori, it is commonly seen in gastritis, gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer, etc. The main symptoms include bloating, stomach pain, etc., accompanied by acid reflux and belching (burping), and indigestion may also occur.
2. Helicobacter pylori test: If you suspect that your child is infected with Helicobacter pylori and has symptoms, you can go to the hospital for Helicobacter pylori tests, such as the carbon 13 breath test, which is a stable isotope that will not harm your child’s body.
Through the above two methods, you can determine whether a child is infected with H. pylori. Once the child has gastrointestinal discomfort and other symptoms, it is recommended to take the child to a regular hospital as soon as possible for consultation and examination, to clearly diagnose the disease and timely treatment.
