A 3-month-old child sleeps about 16 hours a day. Individuals vary greatly.
Infants and toddlers of different age groups sleep for different amounts of time each day; for example, when they are first born, they are able to sleep 16-20 hours a day during the neonatal period.
Infants and toddlers between the ages of 1 and 3 months sleep about 16 hours a day; infants and toddlers between the ages of 4 and 6 months sleep about 14 hours a day. As infants and toddlers get older, the amount of daytime sleep slowly decreases and the amount of nighttime sleep increases accordingly. However, there are large individual differences in sleep time.
The sleep time of infants and toddlers of different ages is only an approximate figure, and there are big differences between different infants. As long as the baby eats well, sleeps well and has a good mental state, parents generally do not need to intervene too much.
