Colon cancer belongs to the categories of “intestinal fungus” and “intestinal wind and visceral poison” in Chinese medicine. This disease is mostly caused by feeling external evils, anxiety and depression, which leads to phlegm, dampness, stasis and poison intertwining in the body, and then develops into lumps in the course of time. At present, there is no research confirming that traditional Chinese medicine can treat advanced colon cancer proliferation, but according to clinical symptoms, Half-summer Laxative Heart Soup, Diaphragm Downward Blood Stasis Expulsion Soup, Eight Treasures Soup and other formulas can be chosen for treatment.
1. Semixia Laxative Heart Soup: composed of Semixia, Scutellaria baicalensis, dry ginger, ginseng, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, Rhizoma Coptidis and Fructus Jujubae. It has the effect of equalizing cold and heat, eliminating lumps and dispersing knots (eliminating lumps in the body). It is mainly used in treating lumpy syndromes mixed with cold and heat, such as plumpness under the heart (mainly referring to the distension and discomfort in the stomach), but fullness without pain, or vomiting, bowel sounds and discharging of bowels. It should not be used in cases of plumpness under the heart caused by stagnation of Qi or accumulation of food.
2. Diaphragm Under the Diaphragm and Expel Blood Stasis Soup: It is composed of Wu Ling Yi, Angelica sinensis, Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong, Peach kernel, Dampi, Red peony and other traditional Chinese medicines, which have the efficacy of invigorating blood circulation and expelling blood stasis, breaking up the symptoms and eliminating lumps. It is used for the treatment of accumulation of lumps (masses), pain that does not go anywhere, and abdominal drop when lying down. Its adverse reactions and contraindications are not yet clear.
3. Ba Zhen Tang: It is composed of ginseng, atractylodes, poria, angelica, chuanxiong, white peony, radix Rehmanniae Praeparata and licorice. It has the effect of benefiting qi and tonifying blood. It is used for treating deficiency of qi and blood, including pale or yellowish color, dizziness, tiredness of limbs, shortness of breath, palpitation and palpitation with anxiety (intense heartbeat and panic), and reduced diet. Its adverse reactions and contraindications are not clear at present.
