Maitong has the effect of moistening the lung and clearing the heart, nourishing Yin and promoting the production of body fluid, and is used in the treatment of paralysis of the throat (pharyngeal redness, swelling and pain, or dryness, foreign body sensation, or pharyngeal itching and discomfort, dysphagia), sore throat, lung dryness and dry cough, internal heat and thirst (internal fever accompanied by symptoms such as overeating and excessive urination), and deficiency of Yin and consumptive coughing and other conditions, and the side-effects of which are not known for the time being.
Maitong is used in medicine as a dried tuberous root. Maitong is sweet and slightly bitter in nature, with the effect of moistening the lung and clearing the heart, nourishing yin and promoting the production of body fluid. It can be used clinically for the treatment of paralyzed throat and sore throat, dry lung and dry cough, internal heat and thirst, heartburn and insomnia, deficiency of yin and consumptive coughing, thirst due to injury of the body fluid, and constipation due to dryness of the intestines.
Maitong is usually taken by decoction, and its adverse effects and contraindications are not clear.
The drug needs to be used under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine, and should not be taken blindly, so as not to cause damage.
