Facial palsy, i.e. facial neuritis, should generally be treated early after the occurrence of facial palsy by giving nerve-nourishing and antiviral drugs and, at the same time, acupuncture treatment. If facial palsy is not given any medication and adjuvant treatment during the acute period, the treatment effect is poor after 3 months of facial palsy, but medication such as nerve-nourishing drugs, such as methylcobalamin orally, can continue to be given. At the same time, acupuncture must be given. Acupuncture can assist in the recovery of the paralyzed muscles of the face, but how effective the recovery is varies from person to person. Therefore, after the occurrence of facial paralysis, active and early treatment should be given to avoid delaying treatment and leaving behind symptoms such as crookedness of the mouth.
