The eight meeting points are scattered in the torso and limbs, and have the corresponding special effects of each point on the lesions of the body’s internal organs, qi and blood, meridians, and bone marrow, as follows. Zhangmen acupoint is on the lateral abdomen, at the lower edge of the free end of the 11th rib, and can treat all diseases related to the organs, such as cough, rib pain, abdominal pain, etc. Zhongzhong acupoint is on the anterior midline, 4 inches above the navel, and treats all diseases related to the internal organs, such as gastroenteritis, cholecystitis, gallstones, etc. The danzhong point is located on the front center line, at the midpoint of the line connecting the two breasts, and it is the main treatment for diseases caused by Qi Qi (the body’s gases do not run smoothly), such as anxiety, liver depression, and so on. Diaphragm Yu point is 1.5 inches away from the posterior midline under the spinous process of the seventh thoracic vertebrae, and is used to treat all blood disorders. Yanglingquan point is on the lateral side of the lower leg, below the anterior aspect of the small head of the fibula, and is used to treat all tendon-related disorders, such as knee osteoarthritis, tendonitis and tenosynovitis. Tai Yuan is located at the transverse line of the palm side of the wrist, where the radial artery pulsates, and treats diseases related to the veins. Da Loom is located below the spinous process of the first thoracic vertebra, 1.5 inches away from the posterior midline, and is used for treating bone diseases, especially cervical and thoracic spine diseases. Hang Zhong point is on the outer side of the lower leg, 3 inches above the high point of the outer ankle, at the anterior edge of the fibula, and is used for treating diseases related to the medulla, such as congenital insufficiency, dysplasia, and other diseases. Acupuncture, moxibustion and bloodletting should not be done on one’s own. If there is any discomfort, one needs to select the acupoints for acupuncture and moxibustion treatment under the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner’s diagnosis and treatment, and doing it on one’s own may lead to serious consequences.
