What’s wrong with springtime rhinitis?



Spring rhinitis is usually considered to be suffering from seasonal allergic rhinitis.

Allergic rhinitis is mainly an inflammatory reaction caused by exposure to allergens in susceptible individuals. Allergens include pollen, mites, allergic foods and so on. Spring rhinitis should be seasonal allergic rhinitis. Spring is the season of plant pollen dispersal, and exposure to allergenic pollen can lead to an attack of allergic rhinitis.

Allergic rhinitis is mainly characterized clinically by nasal itching, paroxysmal sneezing, copious watery nasal discharge and nasal congestion. Patients have episodes of clear sneezing, conjunctival congestion, redness and swelling of the eyelid area due to repeated rubbing of the eyes in severe cases, heavier nasal congestion, and decreased sense of smell, which is associated with extensive edema of the nasal mucosa.

Seasonal allergic rhinitis treatment is generally to wear a mask, avoid contact with allergens, the application of antihistamines, such as cetirizine, loratadine and other drugs; nasal spray hormones such as mometasone furoate and other drugs; nasal rinse treatment.

Spring rhinitis is recommended to hospitals, follow the doctor’s instructions for medication, standardized treatment.
