How long after stopping Tegretol can you have surgery

Surgery is recommended after stopping Tegretol for 7 days.
Tegretol is an antiplatelet drug, which can inhibit platelet activity and reduce the risk of arterial thrombosis. It is mainly used in the treatment of ischemic cardiovascular diseases such as coronary artery disease, especially in patients with implanted stents.
When patients who are taking Tegretol undergo surgical treatment, the drug should be routinely discontinued before the surgery, and the time of discontinuation should preferably be around 7 days, so as to allow the platelets in the body to return to their normal activity, and to reduce the risk of bleeding after the surgery.
Tegretol reversibly inhibits AD skin receptors, exerting a platelet inhibitory effect. Its adverse reactions include bleeding from skin mucous membranes, gastrointestinal bleeding, intracranial hemorrhage, etc. Some patients may experience dyspnea and elevated uric acid after taking the drug. It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to any component of Tegretol, have a history of cerebral hemorrhage, active bleeding, and moderate to severe liver damage.
When patients taking Tegretol undergo surgical treatment, the medication should be adjusted under the supervision of a physician to prevent postoperative bleeding.
