Does it matter if you wear makeup for an MRI?

Women may be confused about whether they need to remove their makeup when having an imaging exam. The use of makeup has no effect on the final image and diagnosis, but it cannot be ruled out that some cosmetics contain metal salts, and it is unknown whether the presence of metal salts will affect the quality of the MRI image. Therefore, when it is necessary to perform a maxillofacial MRI, it is recommended to remove makeup before doing so. For other parts of the body, such as cranial and body MRI, make-up has no effect on the quality of the final image or on the final diagnosis, so it is safe to choose to wear make-up or not to wear make-up.
