Do you need painkillers for lung nodule surgery?

The use of analgesic sticks is not always necessary for lung nodule surgery, and it needs to be considered according to various aspects such as the patient’s pain tolerance level and condition.
For early stage lung cancer, highly suspected lung cancer, infectious lung lesions, benign lung tumors, etc., large and small nodules inside the lungs can be removed by surgery. The main surgical methods are lobectomy, segmental resection, and lung wedge resection.
At present, lung nodule surgery is usually performed in a minimally invasive thoracoscopic way. Before the surgery, the patient will be put under general anesthesia, and the surgery will be performed without the patient being conscious. After the surgery, as the effect of anesthesia fades, due to the wounds in the lungs, there will be obvious pain at the wound site.
If the patient’s pain is very severe and intolerable, and has significantly affected normal breathing and rest, he or she may choose to use analgesic sticks to relieve the pain. If the patient is not very sensitive to pain, analgesic sticks may also be dispensed with.
