Sea buckthorn does not have fire-reducing properties and may lead to fire.
Sea buckthorn is a traditional Chinese medicine, warm in nature, sour and astringent in flavor, and belongs to the spleen, stomach, lung and heart meridians. It has the effects of strengthening the spleen and eliminating food, relieving cough and phlegm, and promoting blood circulation and dissipating blood stasis. It is used in treating spleen deficiency with low food intake, food accumulation (accumulation of food in the stomach due to indigestion), abdominal pain, cough with excessive phlegm, chest paralysis (chest tightness and pain), heart pain, blood stasis and menstrual occlusion, bruising and swelling, etc. It is also used in treating the symptoms of blood stasis. Its adverse effects and contraindications are not clear.
Since sea buckthorn is warm in nature, it does not have the effect of lowering fire, and overdose or prolonged intake may cause fire, with symptoms such as red face and eyes, dry and cracked lips and mouth, bitter and dry mouth and thirst, erosion of tongue and mouth, sore throat, bleeding gums, epistaxis (nosebleed) bleeding, and so on.
When taking sea buckthorn, one should consult a professional Chinese medicine doctor first, and should not take medication without authorization in order to avoid discomfort.
