Diet for patients with nutritional megaloblastic anemia

  Nutritional megaloblastic anemia is mainly caused by insufficient intake and malabsorption of folic acid and vitamin B12. The dietary regimen for patients with nutritional megaloblastic anemia is extremely important.  This includes: (1) Changing poor dietary habits Not being partial to food, not being picky, not being vegetarian for a long time, and taking in folic acid and vitamin B12 from food. (2) Paying attention to folic acid and vitamin B12 supplementation Eating more fresh vegetables to increase the intake of folic acid. Also eat more protein-rich foods to ensure nutritional balance. Folic acid-rich vegetables, such as spinach, rape, chard, tomatoes, peanut kernels, yeast hair pasta food, beans and their products, and liver and kidney of animals. Eat more foods containing vitamin B12, such as liver, kidney and meat of animals, egg yolk, cow’s milk, flour, etc.  (3) Improve cooking techniques Folic acid is very easy to be destroyed by high temperature, so cooking is not easy to high temperature and too long. If you add vitamin C to the food, it can promote the absorption of folic acid; add calcium tablets, it can promote the absorption of vitamin B12.  (4) Avoid drinking alcohol Most patients with chronic alcoholism are accompanied by folic acid deficiency. Therefore, patients with megaloblastic anemia should not drink alcohol.
