What is lumbar endplate inflammation?

Lumbar endplate inflammation is a sterile inflammatory disease caused by degenerative factors in the cartilage of the lumbar endplates, which often triggers localized pain and activity limitation. The increased axial load and stress on the degenerated endplates of the intervertebral discs cause changes in the local microenvironment. Repeated mechanical loads cause damage to the endplates and subendoplasia, and repeated trauma to the intervertebral discs releases inflammatory factors, which diffuse to the endplates and lead to localized inflammation. It is mostly induced by excessive activity or excessive weight bearing caused by vertebral instability. The main clinical manifestations are pain, limitation of activity, relief after rest, accompanied by radiating pain and numbness of the limbs. The prognosis is good and most of them can be cured after conservative treatment. In daily life, we should correct the incorrect lifestyle and seek timely medical treatment if there is any discomfort, so as to standardize the treatment.
