Chinese medicine has a long history of treating tumors, especially in the past 50 years, numerous high-level evidence-based medical studies have been gradually carried out, and the therapeutic rules of combining Chinese medicine with surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, etc., the ways and methods of Chinese medicine treatment have been gradually explored to improve and clarify the efficacy. Liu Jie, Department of Oncology, Guang’anmen Hospital, Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CCM), “Guidelines for the Treatment of Malignant Tumors in Chinese Medicine” is the first book that gathers our experts in the field of TCM oncology to formulate the criteria of TCM tumor identification and staging, treatment principles and treatment pathways based on the existing evidence, and to recommend treatment protocols according to the international evidence-based medical evidence grading standards. The publication of this book is based on the strategic deployment of Chinese culture “going abroad” and is dedicated to the international dissemination of TCM, which will comprehensively change the understanding of TCM at home and abroad, further improve the international image and scientific and technological competitiveness of China, and is of great significance to the development of TCM in China. It is also one of the feasible ways for us to make our national contribution to the world medicine. It took nearly 4 years to scientifically summarize and sort out the mature, feasible and standardized results and evidence of TCM treatment of tumors formed in current clinical practice, and convene renowned experts in medical and surgical oncology, diagnosis, radiotherapy, Chinese medicine, acupuncture, nutrition, psychology, evidence-based, statistics and other multidisciplinary and professional fields with geographical and academic representativeness to participate in the discussion and deliberation, and jointly compile In December 2014, the Guide was officially published by People’s Health Publishing House. The Guide is divided into three parts. The first part is the General Introduction, which mainly introduces the basic knowledge related to the treatment of malignant tumors. The second part is the guide of Chinese medicine treatment for common malignant tumors, which mainly introduces the diagnosis, treatment principles, recommendation of Chinese medicine treatment and research progress. The third part is the appendix, which mainly introduces the commonly used drugs for malignant tumors and the explanation of related terms. The book features: ① Based on evidence-based medical evidence, combined with expert opinions, the treatment plan is recommended according to the international evidence-based medical evidence grading standard; ② Systematically sort out the research results of TCM diagnosis and treatment of common malignant tumors, and for the first time reach an expert consensus in the industry on the identification and classification of evidence and treatment recommendations; ③ Specific TCM diagnosis, treatment pathways and treatment plans, with a large number of charts, are highly clinically instructive. We will do more detailed and in-depth work and leverage the power of the International TCM Oncology Consortium to drive international research collaboration and development.
