Asthma can be treated with acupuncture, using traditional common needling methods. In the acute phase the acupuncture points chosen are those on the hand Taiyin lung meridian, such as Zhongfu, Yunmen, Liejiao, and Hegu, together with specific points, wheeze-fixing points, and a selection of points on the dorsal yu points. The patient is placed in a prone position to expose the back, and in the Directing Vessel and Bilateral Bladder Meridians, the serpentine stabbing method is used to select points at every other vertebrae, so that the serpentine stabbing is about 24 needles. Although there are more acupuncture points, they play a role in clearing the Vertical Channels, awakening the mind and stopping asthma. So through the method of acupuncture treatment of asthma, acupuncture itself is simple, convenient, inexpensive, tested, green, and the patient can accept a method, suitable for promotion.
