Post-operative precautions and diet for intestinal polyps

Postoperative precautions for intestinal polyps include minimizing activities within five days after surgery to prevent bleeding from the trauma in the intestine, and the need to stop taking antithrombotic, antiplatelet and anticoagulant drugs after surgery to avoid increasing the risk of bleeding after colonoscopy to remove polyps. In addition, the postoperative diet is also very important, keep the diet light, do not eat foods containing fiber, such as coarse grains, celery, spinach, cabbage, oleaginous vegetables, leeks, etc., because dietary fiber is not easily absorbed by the intestine, so the residue of dietary fiber will repeatedly rub with the intestinal excised trauma during defecation, which is not conducive to trauma recovery. The dietary principle is that the food is non-irritating and liquid, eat little and often, once every 2-3 hours. It is advisable to choose foods that are not easily flatulent and not too sweet, such as egg soup, rice soup, vegetable soup and lotus root powder, etc. It is advisable to lie down for 20-30 minutes after the meal. If the postoperative recovery is normal, a low-fat, semi-liquid diet, such as thin rice, noodles, ravioli, etc., can be eaten two weeks after surgery, with 5-6 meals per day. Patients can eat soft rice after discharge, the main food and side dishes should be nutritious and easy to digest, avoid eating raw and cold, fried, sour and spicy food and other stimulating, easy to bloat, should chew and swallow slowly, eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, do not eat high-fat food, pickled products, appropriate amount of vitamin supplement, avoid too sweet, too salty, too thick diet, such as nausea, abdominal distension and other symptoms after eating, should suspend eating.
