The Apgar score is very important to assess the degree of asphyxia in newborns and to guide the next step of diagnosis and treatment. Specifically, the Apgar score for newborns is divided into 5 areas. The first area is skin color, which is greenish-purple or pale in color. The second aspect is heart rate, if the heart rate is not 0 points; heart rate less than 100 times/minute belongs to 1 point, heart rate more than 100 times/minute belongs to 2 points. The third aspect is the bouncing of the child’s soles, if there is no response it is a 0; a nose wrinkle is a 1; if the crying is more pronounced or there is sneezing, this is a 2. The fourth aspect is muscle tone, if the muscle tone is loose, it is a 0; if the muscle tone is slightly flexed, it is a 1; if the movement of the limbs is normal, it is a 2. The fifth aspect is respiration, if there is no breathing is 0 points, slow and irregular breathing is 1 point; normal breathing and loud crying is 2 points.
