When sticky stools occur after taking traditional Chinese medicine, we should first exclude whether we have recently consumed too much greasy food, and secondly, it may be caused by spleen deficiency and dampness, or dampness and evils within the intestines. 1. Spleen deficiency and dampness: If the patient takes cold herbal medicines for a long time, the cold will hurt the spleen and stomach, which will lead to dysfunction of transportation and digestion, and the dampness will gather in the intestines, resulting in sticky stools. 2. Dampness inside: if patients take stimulating Chinese medicine for a long time, it will lead to the disharmony between the spleen and stomach, which will lead to the accumulation of food residue in the intestines, and then dampness will be generated inside; or if patients feel dampness outside and invade the intestines internally, the phenomenon of sticky and greasy stools can occur. Patients should pay attention to their diet and not to eat food that is too cold, too spicy or too oily. If the uncomfortable symptoms are hard to tolerate, it is recommended that the patient seek medical advice and consult the attending physician.
