In general, radiotherapy is not required after surgery for adenomyoma.
Adenomyoma is a benign lesion in which the endometrium invades into the myometrium in a restricted manner. It occurs mainly in women in their reproductive years, with clinical manifestations of secondary dysmenorrhea progressively worsening and relieving after menstruation, and some patients have increased menstrual flow or prolonged menstruation at the same time. Color ultrasound suggests that the uterus is unevenly enlarged.
Depending on the size of the adenomyoma or the patient’s symptoms, there are various treatment options, such as conservative treatment and surgical treatment. If surgery has been performed, regular follow-ups at a later stage will be sufficient without the need for radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are mainly used for supplemental treatment after surgery for malignant tumors or radiotherapy or chemotherapy after losing the time for surgery for advanced malignant tumors by killing tumor cells or inhibiting their growth.
It is recommended that patients go to the hospital in time, and standardize the diagnosis and treatment under the guidance of physicians, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
