Biliary drains are usually placed for no more than how many days

Biliary drainage tube (T-tube) placement time should be based on the amount and character of bile drainage and T-tube imaging results to determine the retention time, if the drainage is smooth, no stones left, usually routine 14 days to remove the tube.
1. Postoperative T-tube drainage of bile is about 200ml~300ml, which is more clarified every day, T-tube imaging can be performed 10~14 days after operation, if the bile duct is smooth without stones and other lesions, try to close the tube after 24 hours or more of drainage after imaging, and the patient can close the tube without any obvious discomfort, and then pull out the tube.
2. If there is no bile out of the biliary drainage tube, check whether the drainage tube is dislodged or twisted; if there is too much bile, check whether there is obstruction at the lower end of the drainage tube; if the bile is turbid, pay attention to whether there are stones left behind or biliary inflammation is not controlled.
If the T-tube imaging found that there are stones left, should be 4-8 weeks after the operation until the formation of the fibrous sinus tract, again choledochoscopy, stone removal.
The time of placing the biliary drainage tube should be decided by the doctor according to the specific situation, and the tube should not be removed privately.
