The dangers of otitis media and its maintenance

The danger of otitis media: If otitis media is not treated timely and thoroughly, it may mostly turn into chronic otitis media. In addition, if chronic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis and chronic tonsillitis exist, bacteria may repeatedly invade the middle ear cavity and otitis media latent down leading to chronic otitis media. Complications 1. Facial palsy. The facial nerve is very close to the middle ear cavity, and if it is damaged, it can cause distortion of the mouth and eyes. 2. Labyrinthitis. If the inflammation invades inward and enters the inner ear, it can cause labyrinthitis, leading to vertigo and nausea and vomiting. 3. Intracranial complications, on the other hand, include meningitis, extraneural abscess and brain abscess. Whichever occurs, it can be life-threatening. 4.A variety of abscesses, such as subperiosteal abscess behind the ear, sub-temporal muscle abscess, and abscess on the posterior wall of the external ear canal, etc. When an abscess appears, a very soft mass can be felt locally, with redness, swelling, severe pain, and high fever. If not treated in time, the abscess spreads to the neck, causing pain when the neck is turned, and in severe cases there is destruction of the large blood vessels in the neck, leading to death. There are two types of otitis media: purulent and non-purulent. There are three types of chronic purulent otitis media: simple, cholesteatoma and osteochondritis. Non-suppurative and simple suppurative otitis media are generally safe, and no serious complications will occur. However, the cholesteatoma and osteochondroma types can have various complications and are dangerous if they are intracranially combined. The reason why complications can occur in cholesteatoma and osteoclastic otitis media is that the parietal wall of the middle ear is called the tympanic cap, and the tympanic cavity is separated from the temporal lobe of the brain in the middle fossa by a thin bone wall, and the posterior wall of the mastoid process is close to the cerebellum by the sigmoid sinus bone plate, which has the factor of erosion and destruction of bone. Abscesses. Preventive measures for otitis media: 1. Rest as much as possible and keep the surrounding environment quiet. When taking off or descending from an airplane, you can eat snacks and use swallowing, soft palate movement, and jaw movement to reduce the chance of getting the disease. 3.After getting sick, you can do self-eustachian tube blowing, regardless of the time and number of times. 4.Keep your mood stable and take your medication on time. 5.If you have tympanic membrane damage, you should pay attention to keep the external ear canal clean and dry. 6.If you have tympanic membrane damage, pay attention to prevent water intrusion when showering or shampooing. Swimming is forbidden in this case.
