Age-related deafness is a natural part of human aging

As people grow older, all organs of the body gradually begin to degenerate, and our hearing gradually decreases due to aging, the age and degree of hearing loss depends on the individual. The prevalence of hearing impairment in the elderly population is 30% to 60%, and elderly deafness in China accounts for at least 1/3 of the elderly population, according to this estimate, there are millions of elderly people with hearing impairment in China, and the prevalence is higher in urban areas than in rural areas. It is clinically known as senile deafness, which is a progressive, binaural, symmetrical deafness. The human body will experience a series of aging phenomena as it ages, such as hair turning gray, teeth falling out, vision loss, etc. Senile deafness is caused by the aging of the auditory system, which leads to hearing dysfunction. So, when does hearing start to age? According to audiological research, normal human hearing is best around the age of 20, and hearing loss begins to occur from about 45 onwards in men and a little later in women. With the increase in human life expectancy and the increase in the aging population, the incidence of deafness in the elderly has increased.
