What to do about red, itchy skin after summer bug bites

Red, swollen and itchy skin after being bitten by bugs in summer is clinically called papular urticaria, also known as insect bite dermatitis, which can be improved by general treatment, topical medication and oral medication.
1. General treatment: After being bitten by bugs, you can use alkaline substances such as soap and water or flowing water to rinse the local area. Local cold compresses can also be applied to reduce the sensitivity of nerve endings and thus stop the itching.
2. Topical medication: Under the guidance of a doctor, topical glycerine lotion, compound menthol ointment, or glucocorticoid cream, such as hydrocortisone butyrate cream, mometasone furoate cream and other treatments.
3. Oral medication: If the itching is significant, antihistamines such as loratadine and cetirizine hydrochloride can be used as prescribed by the doctor. Severe cases can be treated with glucocorticoids systematically, such as oral prednisone tablets.
It is recommended that when the skin is red, swollen and itchy after being bitten by the bugs, go to the hospital as soon as possible, and do not blindly use drugs on your own to avoid causing adverse reactions.
