Uremic patients can eat shrimp, but need to be moderate to avoid hyperkalemia and hyperphosphatemia. Uremia is a clinical syndrome caused by the decline of renal excretory function of various systems manifestations, such as edema, electrolyte metabolism disorders (generally low calcium, high phosphorus, high potassium is more), nausea, vomiting and so on. Protein intake in uremic patients is recommended to be 0.6~1.0g/day before dialysis and 1.2~2.0g after dialysis to avoid protein malnutrition. Shrimp belongs to high-quality protein, 100g of sea shrimp containing protein 16.8g, phosphorus 196mg, potassium 228mg, moderate intake can give uremic patients adequate protein nutrition, excessive may occur because of potassium, phosphorus excretion obstacles and hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia, arrhythmia, skin itching and other symptoms. It is recommended to consult a nephrologist, who will give individualized advice according to the condition, for the diet of uremic patients.
