Arch dysplasia generally refers to flat feet, i.e., foot deformities caused by patients with low or disappearing arches, pronated feet, and obvious collapse of the arches when standing or walking. 1. Many children and adolescents have flat feet, which are congenital and affected by genetic factors. It may also be caused by foot joint degeneration, trauma, diabetes mellitus, rheumatoid arthritis, neuropathy, tumor, and posterior tibial tendon insufficiency. 2. Common symptoms in patients with flat feet include pain, swelling, gait abnormalities, associated metatarsal fasciitis, and tarsal sinus syndrome. 3. For children and adolescents, foot pads can be used for correction, which can reduce pain and support the arch. In addition, patients are advised to wear shoes with hard soles, which can give strong support to the foot. 4. For patients with severe deformities, appropriate surgical treatments can be chosen to improve symptoms depending on the type of lesion.
