Tui Na treatment for frozen shoulder

The application of tui na for the treatment of frozen shoulder is standardized in many parts, but we can simply summarize it into two steps. The first step is to relax the muscles and other soft tissues in the front, back, outside and above the shoulder joint by using techniques such as rolling, kneading and plucking, together with some local acupuncture points. The second step is to use some movement techniques, such as wrenching and shaking, to make the shoulder joint move in all directions within the patient’s tolerance, such as internal retraction, abduction, supination and posterior extension, etc. Each direction can be done 3-5 times until the range of movement gradually expands and returns to the normal range. These movements can be performed crosswise, with the strength and amplitude as tolerated by the patient.
