Children with simple runny nose usually do not need oral medication because most of them have cold or mild viral infections leading to khat symptoms in the nose, which are usually self-limiting diseases and do not require special treatment, and most of them will improve significantly after 3-5 days. If the runny nose is accompanied by physical discomfort, topical antiviral sprays, such as interferon or ribavirin spray, can be applied. If the runny nose is accompanied by obvious itching, oral anti-allergy medication can be taken.
